Air Products Announces the Official Opening of its State-of-the-Art CO2 Plant in Navoi, Uzbekistan

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a global leader in industrial gases, proudly announces the official opening of its first clean carbon dioxide (CO₂) production facility in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This milestone comes with the successful first customer deliveries from the plant.
The cutting-edge facility utilizes raw CO₂ captured from the ammonia line production at Navoiazot, the region's leading chemical producer. With a production capacity of 120 tonnes per day, this plant is not only Uzbekistan’s largest and most modern but also produces the first food-grade CO₂ production in the Republic, with a proven product purity of 99.99%.
"The opening of our Navoi CO₂ plant marks an important moment for us and the Republic of Uzbekistan,” said Kirill Korotkov, Merchant General Manager of Air Products. “By optimizing the captured CO₂ from the ammonia production process, we are not only contributing to a cleaner environment but also providing regional businesses with access to high-quality CO₂. This operation exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation in the industrial gases sector."
The new CO₂ production facility will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with an estimated avoidance of nearly one million tonnes over the project lifecycle. This aligns with the Republic of Uzbekistan’s imperative to support environmental initiatives.
With this project, Air Products aims to support to diverse industries such as food freezing and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), beverage production, welding, and agriculture. The facility will operate around the clock to ensure a reliable supply of CO₂, enabling local manufacturers to operate without interruptions during peak demand periods.
